Tiki Drink Recipe: The Polynesian Cherry Cocktail a classic tropical drink.

Tiki drink recipes: Instructions on how to make the Polynesian Cherry Cocktail drink, another classic tropical tiki cocktail.

Polynesian Cherry Cocktail Recipe.

Ingredients.
• 2 oz. vodka (Skky, Grey Goose, etc.)
• 1 oz. cherry brandy (Hiram Walker, Kammer Kirschwasser, Clear Creek, De Kuyper,
• 1/2 oz. fresh lime juice
• 1/2 oz. fresh lemon juice
• lime wedge
• bar sugar
Garnish with lime wedge and cherry

Procedure:
Rim each of the cocktail glasses with the sugar by rubbing the rim of the glass with the lime wedge and then dipping it in the sugar. Mix the rest of the ingredients with the cracked ice in a cocktail shaker and shake well until cold a frosty. Pour the mixture into your favorite tiki cocktail glass or mug.

Tiki spirits: CHERRY HEERING, The Original Cherry Brandy.

Tiki Spirits: A closer look at Cherry Heering, a cherry brandy liquer.
Used in quite a few tiki and tropical cocktails, so a closer look is in order.



OVERVIEW / HISTORY
Of Danish origin, born in Denmark in 1818.
Invented by Peter Heering.
The recipe for Cherry Heering Brandy is a closely guarded family secret,
handed down for generations. It is thought to be the original
cherry brandy. They use a certain variety of cherry known as
the dark stevens cherry, that grows in certain parts of Denmark.

Sometimes it is simply called "Heering".
It is aged for 3-5 years before being bottled.
It has a black cherry flavor, that is not too sweet.
Herbal undertones are also present.
It has a darker red color.
It has a smooth full flavor.

Tropical Tiki Cocktail: The Voodoo Priestess recipe


How to make the exotic Voodoo Priestess tropical tiki cocktail recipe.



Will you fall under her spell?

This is a slight variation of the original recipe.

Voodoo Priestess Recipe:

•  1 1/2 ounces dark rum
•  1 1/2 ounces spiced rum (VooDoo Spiced Rum, Captain Morgan)
•  1/2 ounce brandy (your choice)
•  2 ounces orange juice
•  1 ounce fresh lime juice
•  1 ounce lemon juice
•  2 ounces Voodoo Priestess Spice Syrup
•  1 dash orange bitters



Mixing procedure:
Shake in cocktail shaker.
Pour into a glass filled with ice.
Garnish with a exotic flower.

Cointreau, a closer look.

Cointreau is one of the most popular liqueurs and is used in a great number of tiki cocktail drink recipes. It is the finest version of a Curacao. Cointreau is a form of Curacao, which means in essence, it is a Brandy based spirit. The Brandy is infused with herbs and orange rinds for a citrus flavor with herbal undertones. A large number of vintage tiki cocktails call for this spirit in there recipes.

HISTORY

It was first marketed in 1849 by the Cointreau family.  Cointreau was first called Triple Sec White Curacao, until others strated copying the name, so the family changed  it to Cointreau as we know it today.


HOW TO SERVE

1. Many people enjoy it simply on the rocks.

2. With Rum and fruit juices.

3. With Vodka.

4. With Tequila.


MIXES WELL WITH:
Pretty much anything but whiskey. This stuff blends so well with all the  main cocktail spirits and tiki mixes.

Tiki Cocktails: Tahitian Moon Recipe, A new school tiki drink.

Mixologist Greg Best named this cocktail—made with Tahitian vanilla bean—after a song by the alternative rock band Porno for Pyros.



INGREDIENTS

  1. •  1 1/2 oz brandy
  2. •  1/2 oz sherry
  3. •  2 dashes of Angostura bitters
  4. •  3 oz vanilla cream soda
  5. •  1 long lemon wrapped around 1 fresh vanilla bean
•   Ice

DIRECTIONS

  1. Fill a pint glass with ice. Add the brandy and sherry; stir well. Strain into an ice-filled collins glass and stir in the vanilla soda. Garnish with the twist-wrapped vanilla bean.

CLASSIC TIKI COCKTAILS: The Fog Cutter Recipe. 

Two Versions of how to make the fog cutter tiki drink, tiki bars make them a little different , so we are including a few of the fog cutter recipes.



This is another old school tiki cocktail that was developed in the 1940's.
Made to "clear the fog"


FOG CUTTER RECIPE: (Trader Vic Version)


• 2 oz Light Rum


• 1/2 oz Gin

• 1 oz Brandy

• 1/2 oz Orgeat Syrup

• 1 oz Orange Juice

• 2 oz Lemon Juice (fresh)

• 1/4 oz Sherry Wine


Shake all the ingredients, except for the Sherry Wine.
Pour into a ice filled glass.
Float Sherry on the top.





FOG CUTTER RECIPE: (Don the Beachcomber Version)


• 1 oz White Rum (brugal white]

• 1/2 oz Gin (bombay)

• 1/2 oz Cherry Brandy (Cherry Heering}

• 1/2 oz Brandy (Chalfonte)

• 1/2 oz Sweet & Sour Mix

• 1/4 oz Simple Syrup

DIRECTIONS
Shake all the ingredients, except for the cherry brandy.
Pour into a ice filled glass.
Float cherry brandy on the top.

Tiki cocktail drinks: How to make the Singapore Sling.
A classic tiki cocktail from the golden age of tiki, still popular at tiki bars today.
Here are a few different recipes for the Singapore Sling!







OVERVIEW
The Singapore Sling Recipe has been a favorite since 1915. Surprisingly it uses no rum, but
does usually include some kind of fruit. Again, there are many recipes for the Singapore sling. We will cover  them from original to modern.

ORIGINS
The Singapore Sling was invented around 1915 at the Raffles Hotel's Long Bar. The Drink was created by the  Raffles bartender Ngiam Tong Boon.

RECIPES
Although there are many variations to the Singapore Sling, the essence of the drink contains a trinity of Gin, Cherry Brandy and Benedictine.

RECIPE ONE 
(Original Singapore Sling) 1915.
As recreated by Raffles bartenders.
The very first version has been lost.
• Gin
• Cherry Brandy
• Benedictine
• Club Soda (to taste)


RECIPE TWO
(Original Variation of the Singapore Sling) 1922.
As recreated by Raffles bartenders.

• 2 dashes of Orange Bitters, 
• 2 dashes of Angostura Bitters, 
• The juice of half a lemon 
• 1/8 gill of Bénédictine. 
• 1/8 gill of Cherry Brandy 
• 1/2 gill of Gin. 
Pour into a tumbler and fill up with cold soda water.


RECIPE THREE
(Raffles Modern Singapore Sling)
30ml Gin 
• 15ml Cherry Brandy 
• 120ml Pineapple Juice 
• 15ml Lime Juice 
• 7.5ml Cointreau 
• 7.5ml Dom Benedictine 
• 10ml Grenadine 
• A Dash of Angostura Bitters 
Garnish with a slice of Pineapple and Cherry 

RECIPE FOUR
Modern Bartenders Favorite Singapore Sling
THIS ONE TASTES GREAT!!!!


• 1/2 oz. Cherry Heering Brandy
• 1 1/2 oz. gin 
• 1/4 oz. Benedictine 
• 1/4 oz. Cointreau (Orange)• 3 oz. pineapple juice 
• 1/4 oz. fresh lime juice 
• 1 dash Angostura bitters 
Shake with ice, strain. Top with a little soda water. Garnish with a flag.
